First Steps to Developing

Antiracist Schools

This three day workshop provides an overview of what it means to be an antiracist educational institution or educator and first-steps to developing antiracist educational institutions. In this workshop, educators explore the following concepts: critical consciousness (Freire, 1970), antiracism (Kendi, 2020), and white fragility (DiAngelo, 2016). This workshop prompts educators to ponder what the purpose of schools are and what it means to educate in a democratic society. This workshop prompts educators to consider their role in moving society in the direction of equity and justice and helps educators identify first-steps to creating antiracist schools.
